Felonies Reduced to Misdemeanors
A client entered his employer's scrap yard after hours without consent. He then allegedly sold over $1000 in copper wire to sell for scrap. During the burglary, he was seen by a witness scaling the fence to get into the enclosed yard. Because this was an employee theft, the client did not qualify for a diversionary program. However, the Umansky Law Firm attorneys were successful in convincing the state to drop two felony charges, which allowed the client to resolve the matter with misdemeanor probation.
While it may be tempting to steal copper to sell for scrap, an event going on all across the country during the economic downturn, getting caught can have serious repercussions that will affect you even when the economy rebounds. By taking the chance of ruining your current or future employment, you may come to regret your actions.
However, if this does happen, you need to know that someone is on your side. If you have been charged with the crime of theft in Orange County or Orlando, Florida, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, please contact the Umansky Law Firm for an initial and confidential consultation. We will work to get your charges reduced or eliminated completely.
