Five Thousand Dollar Plus Worthless Check Case Dropped
The Umansky Law Firm recently represented the vice president of a corporation. Over eight years ago he was charged with writing a worthless check of over $5,000. Writing a worthless check is a type of fraud, and writing one for this large amount is considered a felony. However, because this occurred over eight years ago, the experienced fraud attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm immediately filed a motion to dismiss the charges based upon the statute of limitations. The court granted our motion to dismiss and the charges were dropped.
An error in judgment like this can have repercussions that follow you around for years. Begin convicted can limit employment opportunities, provide negative press for the company you are with, as well as cause you to lose the trust of friends and family. Jail time, fines, and probation are possible, too.
If you have been charged with the crime of writing a worthless check in the Orange County or Orlando, Florida, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, please contact the experienced attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm. We will evaluate your case during a free and confidential initial consultation.
