Christmas Tree Stolen from Sorrento Post Office
An artificial Christmas tree adorned with the names of 50 needy children was stolen from the lobby of the Sorrento post office last week. It is believed the tree was taken sometime after the post office closed on Nov. 18.
The tree was the property of the Adopt a Child or Two holiday charity. The tree's only decorations were 50 cardboard angels, each bearing the first name of a needy child, their age, and their clothing size. The children are referred to the charity by Lake County counselors and school teachers, with the approval of the parents. Some parents say this is the only way their children would be able to get any gifts at Christmas.
Because of the state of the economy, some believe that the tree was taken by someone trying to make their own Christmas a little better. And, it's true that many people are suffering because of the economy. Some of these people will feel that the only way to make things better for them and their families is to resort to theft. However, this act, possibly based out of desperation, can leave you and your family with an even worse holiday season if you are charged with theft or shoplifting.
If you have been charged with the crime of theft in the Orange County or Orlando area, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, please contact the Umansky Law Firm for an initial and confidential consultation.

According to police, the teacher was being investigated since earlier this month when she allegedly sold .3 grams of heroin and .3 grams of crack for cash to detectives at a convenience store. A spokesperson for the elementary school where she taught says she will be sent a letter asking her not to return and will probably be suspended.
A lapse in judgment can cost you more than your freedom. It can cost you your career. Charges Dismissed against Young Russian Mother
A young Russian immigrant and owner of a small business recently became a Umansky Law Firm client because of a simple mistake that has happened to countless people in the past.
The client was in a Publix pushing one of her children in a stroller, and she laid some shampoo and balsamic vinegar in the stroller under the baby blankets. She completed her shopping, paid for her items and left, forgetting about the items in the baby carriage. Walking to her car she was approached by loss prevention who refused to let her pay for the items, despite the client having $100 in her wallet.
The client has never been in trouble before, and could not enter a plea as it would jeopardize her immigration status. Our lawyers convinced the judge to agree that even if she were found guilty at trial the judge would not convict her or impose jail time.
Despite being terrified by the prospect of trial our client flew down from New York ready to fight. The trial was called, the State has evidence issues and the prosecutor was forced to dismiss the matter.
If you have been charged with a theft in Orange County, Orlando, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, please contact the Umansky Law Firm today.

Man Faces Charges for Stealing Cruiser
A 19-year-old man got behind the wheel of the police cruiser he was cuffed and sitting in on Tuesday night in Fort Sanders, Tennessee. Initially wanted on a charge of being a fugitive from justice because he violated a probation warrant stemming from a burglary charge, he now faces charges of possessing a stolen vehicle, possessing stolen property, criminal impersonation, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, driving on a suspended license, felony fleeing, and theft of the police cruiser.
The man had only been in the Knoxville area for two days before allegedly stealing a car and switching its license plates (also stolen). The man's hands were cuffed behind his back when he was placed in the cruiser, but he was able to get his hands around to the front due to his small stature. He then kicked out the Plexiglas separating the front seat from the back seat and squirmed behind the wheel. The man was able to drive the cruiser for two blocks before crashing into another vehicle.
Just because you may have committed a crime does not mean you are alone and have no one in the legal system on your side. Rather than running from your trouble, please contact the experienced criminal defense attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm. We serve the Orange County and Orlando, Florida area, as well as the entire state of Florida.

Two men who lived at the home were booked on drug-related charges, including trafficking; another person was charged with trafficking and other various drug-related offenses; a man was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia; two women were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Charged with Second DUI, Client Found Not Guilty
One of our recent clients is 28-years-old, and veteran of the war in Iraq. He was found passed out behind the wheel at a traffic light in Kissimmee, Florida, with his car still in gear. The Kissimmee police were unable to awaken him, and called EMTs to assist.
When the client awoke, he stated he had been drinking with his friends, and had consumed seven beers. While on the stand in court, the client admitted he had a prior DUI and a prescription for oxycontin. Because this was the client's second DUI offense, he was facing nine months in Osceola county jail if convicted. After a grueling half hour of deliberations, the jury came back with a not guilty verdict exonerating our client.
Because a conviction for a DUI can have severe consequences, you need an attorney who will work with you to get you through this troubling time. If you have been charged with a DUI in the Orange County or Orlando area, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, please contact the Umansky Law Firm for an initial consultation.

Felony Driving on Habitual License Dropped by State
A recent client of the Umansky Law Firm was pulled over for speeding and charged with driving on a felony habitual suspended license. He was facing up to five years in a Florida prison if convicted. Attorney Zahra Umansky convinced the prosecutor to drop the charges because the client has just been released from jail and did the right thing by reinstating his other suspensions. He simply did not have enough money to reinstate his driver's license. The prosecutor realized that the client had cleared up his record, but could not afford a new license and decided to drop the felony.
