Former NFL Player Loses Bid to Cut Child Support

While the Umansky Law Firm defends those who have been charged with criminal complaints, the reason this news is important is what may be in the future for both the player and his children. Travis Henry, a former Denver Bronco running back, has nine children with nine different mothers. While the average person may scoff and joke about this, there is always the thought that at least Henry can support them because of the money he made as an NFL player.

However, Henry was allegedly not paying child support even when he was playing for the Broncos. He also had a series of legal problems involving drug use. Last fall Henry was arrested on charges of felony cocaine possession. He now faces years in a federal prison for this.

Travis Henry was seen as a liability for the Broncos, and was cut from the team. He no longer has a paycheck coming in, may be going to prison, and yet must pay thousands of dollars a month in child support. A DeKalb County, Georgia judge ruled that Henry must continue to pay the $3000 a month support to the mother of his five-year-old son.

While it may be hard to feel sympathy for a man who allegedly spent thousands of dollars on jewelry, a new home, vehicles and other things while refusing to pay child support or trying to not pay as much as he should, what's sad is that his children may only be able to visit him while he's in prison.

Being caught and then charged with drug possession has devastating effects not only on the individual, but on that individual's family. Henry could just as easily have been someone with a normal, everyday job and still been charged with felony cocaine possession. People in all walks of life can be charged with this allegation.

People who live in the state of Florida and have been charged with drug possession need to know that they can count on a legal team to keep them from going to prison so they can continue to see their family. If you live in the Orange County or Orlando, Florida area, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, this legal team is the experienced criminal defense attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm. Please contact the Umansky Law Firm for an initial and confidential case evaluation if you have been charged with drug possession.
