R&B Artist Chris Brown Allegedly Assaults Rihanna

Nineteen-year-old R&B artist Chris Brown allegedly assaulted a woman early Sunday morning after an argument in a vehicle. Close friends are claiming that woman was Brown's 20-year-old girlfriend and singer, Rihanna. Both Brown and Rihanna were supposed to perform at Sunday night's Grammy Awards, but subsequently cancelled.

Police say the woman, now identified as Rihanna, "suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker." While the argument began in the vehicle, it moved outside of it where some kind of attack took place. Brown then took off in his vehicle, leaving Rihanna there. She then called authorities.

After it was announced that police were looking for Brown, he turned himself into Los Angeles police. He was arrested on an alleged domestic violence felony battery charge, and released on a $50,000 bond.

While most people will never know the kind of fame Chris Brown has, some may know the price of being caught up in a domestic violence case. Not only has Brown's image been tarnished, but he has lost at least one endorsement, and may lose more. Consider this the equivalent of you losing your good name and then your job. While Brown may recover from this – he is famous, after all – the vast majority of people will have a rougher time navigating the pitfalls of an alleged crime.

If you have been charged with domestic violence, please contact the experienced criminal defense lawyers at the Umansky Law Firm. We serve the Orange County and Orlando, Florida area, as well as the entire state of Florida.
