Man Charged with DUI while Riding Barstool

A 28-year-old Ohio man built a motorized barstool by deconstructing a lawnmower and adding the stool and steering wheel. Unfortunately, he also decided to drive it after drinking 15 beers at the beginning of March. He crashed while making a turn in front of his house. Police then responded to a report of a crash with injuries where they allegedly found the injured barstool pilot extremely drunk.

The man said the motorized barstool can get up to 38 mph, and he crashed while he was going around 20 mph. He is 6-foot-1 and weighs 230 pounds, so making a U-turn on a barstool at that speed may have been fated to end in disaster. However, he may not have expected to be charged with driving under the influence.

Though he claims it was a “little minor accident” and pleaded not guilty while seeking a jury trial, it doesn’t need to be a major accident to be charged with a DUI. People have been charged with DUI for falling off their bikes after drinking in several states. While those who fall may not think it a very big deal to go out and get drunk if they are not driving a vehicle home, the law sees this differently.

If you have been charged with driving anything under the influence in the Orange County or Orlando, Florida area, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, please contact the Umansky Law Firm for a free and confidential consultation.
