Prosecutor Drops Burglary and Grand Theft Charge

A recent Umansky Law Firm client was charged in two cases with burglaries of conveyances (motor vehicles) and grand theft. The client was allegedly driving around in one of the vehicles he allegedly stole with property in the car from one of the burglaries. The client told the police he was given permission to drive the stolen vehicle and that he didn’t know about the stolen contents that were inside the car. At the time of his arrest, the client was on probation for another grand theft charge. Depositions were conducted on cases and the prosecutor dropped both burglaries and grand theft cases.

Though it seems like something from a bad show on TV to claim the stolen vehicle was simply borrowed from a friend and there was no knowledge that the property inside the vehicle was stolen, there is always the possibility this is the truth. However, try explaining this to police officers and see how far you get. It is situations like this where you need an experienced criminal defense attorney. Keep in mind that you are innocent until proven otherwise, and even then you may have options.

If you have been charged with burglary or grand theft, please contact the Umansky Law Firm. The experienced attorneys at the Umanksy Law Firm can help you during this potentially life changing time. We serve the areas of Orange County and Orlando, Florida, as well as the state of Florida.
