A 51-year-old Fitchburg, Massachusetts man climbed through the drive-thru of a local McDonald’s, attacked two employees with a box cutter, tried to tie up one of them with his shoelaces and then took a small amount of money from the fast food joint. The employees say they were busy with other tasks, which is how the man gained entry.
The man fled toward the nearby river and was caught in two feet of water. The two employees were treated for cuts to their hands and face.
Although the man’s situation was not reported, it is no surprise, unless you live in a cave, that many people are having a hard time financially. Extenuating circumstances are often at the root of theft, burglary and shoplifting. While the man allegedly cut these two employees, obviously not a smart thing to do, simply condemning someone for this without hearing their side of the story (mental illness, lapse in judgment, as well as simple desperation) is not what should be done.
It is these types of situations that require a lawyer who understands and has experience with defending people like this man. In the Orange County and Orlando, Florida area, the Umansky Law Firm has experienced criminal defense attorneys who will be sure you are treated fairly and understand the charges against you. Please contact us if you have been charged with theft in the state of Florida.
