Diversionary Program for Disney Dining Fiasco
A young couple from the Midwest spent their honeymoon in Orlando at Walt Disney World. While there, they enjoyed the sights, rides, and attractions offered there. They also ate at the amusement park. One of the meals they ate was at a Disney buffet. The couple decided to pay what they felt was the appropriate amount and left to go back to their hotel.
The couple received a call from the restaurant who told them they had not paid enough for their meal. The couple offered to settle up the difference the next day, but they were charged with a misdemeanor offense of obtaining goods and services by fraud. The attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm were able to push this offense into a diversionary program. This guaranteed the charges would be dismissed upon successfully completing the program.
Because Walt Disney World is a major attraction in the country, thousands of people come to Orlando every year to be a part of it. However, lapses in judgment in the theme parks of Disney World still have real world consequences.
If you have been charged with fraud in the Orange County or Orland, Florida area, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, please contact the experienced fraud attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm for an initial and confidential case evaluation.

Effort to Speak with Husband gets Wife Arrested
Most married couples will tell you that things aren't always easy. You can be married for years and years, and still communication may not be what both wish it was – or wasn't.
Take the case of a 37-year-old Connecticut woman. In an effort to have a conversation with her husband, she took the extreme steps of changing the locks and then handcuffing herself to him as he slept. She was apparently afraid he was going to leave since they were having marital problems, and she was attempting to reconcile with him.
Things seem to have taken a turn for the worst, and she allegedly began biting her husband on the arms and torso. He was able to use his cell phone to call the police. The police say they could hear him screaming as they arrived at the couple's home.
The woman was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, and unlawful restraint.
No matter how bad things get in your relationship, this is obviously not the answer. However, when one is accused of domestic violence, it is time to obtain the service of an experienced domestic violence attorney.
If you have been charged with domestic violence in the Orange County or Orlando, Florida area, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, please contact the Umansky Law Firm for an initial consultation.

Port Orange Thief Found in Jail
A suspect in a September theft was found in the Orange County Jail earlier this week. The saga began in September with a wallet stolen from a locker at the Port Orange YMCA. Over $6000 in electronics was then purchased, including camcorders, two laptops, two 46-inch televisions, and power cords.
Using photos and videos of the suspect buying electronics with stolen credit cards from the wallet, police issued a warrant for a 22-year-old man and charged him with fraudulent use of a credit card. The Port Orange police were then contacted by the Orange County Sheriff's office earlier this week after arresting a man for domestic violence that fit the Port Orange description. A Walmart clerk then picked the alleged thief out of a police lineup as the one who made the purchases.
If you have been charged with theft or domestic violence in the Orange County or Orlando, Florida area, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, please contact the experienced criminal defense attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm.

Two Men Charged with Burglarizing Police in Two Different Crimes
Two Orlando area men, one 19-years-old and one 46-years-old, have both been charged with burglarizing items belonging to the police. In the first case, the 19-year-old man allegedly broke into a marked sheriff's SUV and stole items out of it as it was parked at the deputy's home. He is accused of taking a laptop. An orange cone, blue latex gloves, and stop sticks were left at the scene. The alleged burglar was contacted by a deputy early Monday and was found with department issue handcuffs and a glove in his back pocket that matched one at the scene of the crime. He also lead police to a laptop, a gun, and credit cards that were not his.
In the second incident, a homeless man was caught prying the doors of police cruisers and doors at the back of the Orlando police department. When confronted by police, the man threatened them. He was charged with two counts of attempted burglary, assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting without violence.
If you have been charged with theft, even if it is against the police like these two men, and you are in the Orange County or Orlando, Florida area, please contact the experienced criminal defense attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm. We also serve clients throughout the state of Florida. Don't let a momentary lapse in judgment wreck your future.

Orlando Police Shut Down Pirate Radio Station
Authorities announced they shut down an Orlando pirate radio station that broadcast information on gang and drug related activity. Two men were arrested.
According to the Orange County Sheriff's office, the station, called "Street Heat," allegedly broadcast advertisements that referenced gangs, gave information on where to buy drugs and solicit prostitution, and offered advice to gang members. One such piece of advice was on how to fold a bandana, or "flag."
The Orange County Sheriff's office's gang unit and the FCC conducted a two week investigation. They found that radio signals were coming from an antenna that had been mounted in the tree of a backyard in an Orlando residence. A cable traced it to the window of a home, and the SWAT team executed a search warrant last Friday. Two men were taken into custody and charged with unauthorized transmission for the pirate radio station and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
Due to the Street Heat broadcasts, several people may have found themselves charged with various crimes. Hopefully, you were not one of them.
However, if you are, or if you have been charged with a drug offense or solicitation, and you are in the Orange County or Orlando, Florida area, please contact the experienced criminal defense attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm.

Police Seize Over $1 Million from Phish Concertgoers
Most people who have been to a concert know there are drugs around. However, there are certain circles where the drugs are a given. Jam bands like Phish have a fan base that is, generally speaking, much more liberal with their views on drugs. And because Phish has just begun their first shows of their reunion tour, the police are well aware of this, too.
Over the weekend, Phish played three sold-out shows in Hampton, Virginia. Yesterday, police announced that they confiscated around $1.2 million in drugs, and almost $70,000 in cash from concertgoers. In addition, police arrested 194 fans. Police said those arrests were mostly for drug use, possession, and distribution.
Phish tickets start at $49.50 and go up from there. When surcharges are added in, a single ticket may run the average fan $60. Because Phish is only playing a handful of places right now, add in travel expenses for those dedicated enough to make the trek, and the price tag can get extremely high. But what happens when you get busted in the parking lot before the show for drugs? Not only do you miss the show, but you now have to worry about drug charges to your record.
What may seem like innocent concert fun can quickly become a disaster that you will be dealing with long after Phish has moved on to another city. Though the band hasn't announced any concert dates in Florida, there is a chance they'll come later on this year.
If you have been charged with drug possession, use, or distribution in Orlando or Orange County, Florida, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, please contact the drug offense attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm for an initial consultation.

Felony Battery by Strangulation Charge Dropped
A young man with no prior criminal history was accused of felony battery by strangulation, a charge brought by his irate ex-girlfriend. When the Umansky Law Firm was hired by the client, we contacted the woman and brought her in to complete an affidavit. She admitted she made the whole thing up and we then presented the affidavit to the prosecutors. Within two weeks, we had convinced the prosecutor the case was not worth pursuing, and they decided against prosecuting the case.
A felony charge, like the ex-girlfriend of our client was attempting to bring against him, can wreck someone's life. Besides having the stigma attached to you of being someone who attacks people in this manner, you may also face jail time, probation, loss of employment and more.
If you have been charged with felony battery in the Orange County or Orlando, Florida area, or anywhere else in the state of Florida, please contact the experienced criminal defense attorneys at the Umansky Law Firm for an initial and confidential consultation.

DUI Reduced to Reckless Driving, Drug Charge Dropped
A professional young man visiting Orlando from out of state was investigated for weaving out of his lane, making an improper turn and stopping at a green light. He smelled of alcohol, admitted he was coming from a club, and had two different club armbands on his wrist. The officer who stopped him also found an open bottle of tequila, a bottle of vodka and marijuana in the car. It was also discovered he had a prior DUI.
Attorney Schwartz from the Umansky Law Firm was able to convince the state to dismiss the drug charge, and reduce the DUI to a reckless driving offense. By doing so, the client's driver's license was saved from a five year suspension.
If you have been charged with DUI or drug possession in Orange County or Orlando, Florida, please contact the Umansky Law Firm for an initial and confidential consultation.
