Charged with shop lifting from Disney World?

Each year many visitors come to Orlando, Florida to visit Disney World. They come with their hard earned money, family, and friends to enjoy what Disney has to offer. Unfortunately for a few their dream vacation to Disney turns into a nightmare.

Have you ever found yourself charged with theft or shoplifting from Disney World? Have you ever got caught in this type of situation?

Disney World is a zoo with tons of visitors and tourists scrambling around finding rides and food, while going through all the attractions. You wander into a store to do some shopping and it is packed with people browsing, shopping and just hanging out waiting for family members to regroup. You’re shopping for items while your spouse or family is outside of the store on a ride. Suddenly you get a frantic call on your two way radio from your teenage son who has just told you that your other son is missing. You’re holding an unpaid  Disney key chain in your hand and once hearing your son you stress out and  dash out of the store without paying for the key chain.  Before you can get a foot out of the store you’ve been surrounded by Disney’s security guards. They accuse you of Petit Theft and stealing from Disney World.

They escort you back to the security area were they interrogate you for over an hour regarding the five dollar key chain you allegedly took. You try to explain to them that you didn’t do it on purpose and that you were just absent minded in a panic because of the call you just received from your teenage son. Having dealt with many shoplifters or theft charges at Disney World the security guards do not believe you and instead call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office who come out to the scene and either arrest you for the charge of petty theft or issue you a notice to appear in court.

If you were arrested, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office transports you in handcuffs down to the Orange County jail where you were booked and processed like a common criminal. You are given a court date with a bond securing your release or if lucky released without bond on pretrial release.

If you were not arrested you were then  issued a notice to appear with a court date to show up at the Orange County court house in Orlando, Florida to enter a plea to the charge of Petit or Petty theft. Your vacation has been ruined and you are utterly shocked to find yourself in this kind of trouble.
